In Ukraine, there is a growing interest in culture, particularly literature. In contrast, Europe and the United States are witnessing a decline in the popularity of reading, especially printed books. With the rise of digital entertainment, social media, and video content, books are losing their status as a primary leisure activity. In Ukraine, however, studies, including those by the Ukrainian Book Institute, show a steady increase in reading habits among citizens.
This public discussion seeks to explore the factors behind these trends and their implications for civil society in Ukraine. Experts, researchers, and intellectuals will examine how this cultural phenomenon strengthens resilience and defense in challenging times, while addressing the opportunities and challenges it presents for the future.
